‘Minions: The rise of Gru’ review

These guys don’t need an introduction, you know who they are instantly, they are inescapble, but let’s do it anyway. With The release of ‘Despicable Me’ in 2010 a major franchise was born, Gru’s lovable band of ridiculous minions have taken over the world, people love these little yellow idiots and as something of a guilty pleasure, so do I. I personally found minions funnier in the background of the first movie, tinkering around like distracting little idiots. But the world loved that concept so much for a studio there was basically no choice, we had to see more. Give them their own film.

Minions:The Rise of Gru continues the prequel-based story that started in the first Minions solo film and is simply a light-hearted romp about on the silver screen, as an animated children’s film I can’t really ask for too much more. Although neither me nor the friend who saw the film with me are children and we both good few chuckles throughout, an evil Nun is a joke that is given a well-deserved spotlighting. This is a decently funny viewing if only because of the sheer ridiculousness of the premise and set up, I would say it wasn’t painful to watch, I even enjoyed it in the end and that’s a decent compliment for something that just designed for me as an audience.
